I have a 5x8 utility trailer with a planked deck that has gone past the point of saving due to rot- thankfully, the steel trailer frame itself is structurally fine. I can and may probably used pressure treated 1x6s, but am curious about synthetic decking.

5/4 decking is fantastic for trailer beds and walls, its cheap, tough and can handle major abuse. I never understood why people use plywood, even marine plywood dont make much sense. Agree on the 5/4, I also like 2" tongue and grove Alaskan Cedar.

Needs to be lumber 2 X 6 or 2 x 8 or 2 x 10. Decking will not work, to thin. If you have a saw mill close by, go get rough cut 2 x 8 oak, and treat it with some weather sealer before installing.
